Parking

As any Western student knows, having a car on campus is extremely expensive, but for some people it is necessary. There's a great many people with off campus jobs, and a great many more who live off campus. But for those that live on campus, there are only certain spots in which they can park. For example: I can only park in C lots because C lots are closest to my dorm. So living on campus, you'd expect to always have a spot located close to your dorm so that you can get to and from you car timely. Yet, I always find myself stuck parking well over a half mile walk from my dorm in lots labelled All Valid WMU Permits, because they are such big lots so far away from anything that no one wants to park there. When I am paying $300 to park here, I expect to have a spot conveniently located to where I live. There are always plenty of spots in R (employee) lots all around my building, yet if I park there I will get ticketed and possibly towed. I find it kind of backwards that the people being payed to be here get the best parking spots, while those paying tens of thousands of dollars have to fight for spots nowhere near their destination. Can someone find the logic in that for me?

  1. I can relate to this so much! Within the first week of ticketing I received two! I have to drive to East Campus for one of my classes yet can I park at the College of Health and Human Services? Hell. No. It makes me so infuriated because I live 2 and a half hours, so I thought it would be convenient to have my car. So far it has only become more of an expense than anything!
